But research from the bipartisan Tax Foundation suggests otherwise, and says Trump's 2018 trade war was also economically damaging. The non-partisan Tax Foundation would beg to differ. Tax Foundation estimates that the tariffs then imposed have amounted to an $80 billion tax increase on Americans. Nobody else ever did anything on China," Trump explained. More tariffs under Trump could be poorly timed, as US monetary policy is already struggling to clamp down on current inflation levels.

Subscription prices for Peacock, Comcast 's answer to the streaming wars, will increase by $2 this summer. The Summer Olympics begin in late July. Effective last August, ad-supported Peacock's price rose $1 to $5.99, and ad-free went up $2 to $11.99 per month. The streaming service launched in 2020 in time for the Summer Olympics in Tokyo — which was pushed to 2021 due to the pandemic. This was due in part to increased advertising revenue, which has lagged for traditional TV networks recently.

CNN —Major League Baseball (MLB) plans to modify its uniforms ahead of the 2025 season following complaints from players and fans, according to ESPN. “A lot of the rhetoric is confirmation that the pants are see-through,” said Clark, according to ESPN back in February. “Universal concern,” Clark added, “is the pant.”The MLBPA declined to comment, and MLB deferred comment to the players association. The union did place blame on Nike and its debut of the new Nike Vapor Premier uniform this season. “We cautioned Nike against various changes when they previewed them in 2022, particularly regarding pants,” the memo added.

From Princeton University in New Jersey to the University of Southern California in Los Angeles, the same chant can be heard: “Disclose! The specifics of student protesters’ divestment demands vary in scope from school to school. Other students, like those at Cornell University and Yale, are asking their schools to stop investing in weapons manufacturers. Other common threads include demanding universities disclose their investments, sever academic ties with Israeli universities and support a ceasefire in Gaza. Proponents for divestment counter that its value lies in raising awareness and stigmatizing partnerships with targeted regimes or industries.

A growing group of America's young people are not in school, not working, or not looking for work. They're called "disconnected youth" or "opportunity youth," and their ranks have been growing for nearly three decades. Experts say it's not just work and school; this group is often also disconnected from a sense of purpose. Palmer added that those with limited access to transportation, people with disabilities, and young parents were also more susceptible. Disconnected young people don't have that luxury."

High school seniors are more likely to attend college if they complete the federal financial aid form known as the FAFSA, or Free Application for Federal Student Aid. But the state that was the first to require students to fill out the form to graduate, Louisiana, has reversed course and dropped the mandate, after state officials decided it was too intrusive. (The network prefers to call such practices “universal FAFSA” policies, rather than “mandatory,” because all states with the requirement allow students and their parents to opt out if they don’t want to fill out the form.) “We know FAFSA completion and enrollment are associated with each other,” Mr. DeBaun said. Filing the form allows students to get their share of federal grants.

No matter who you are or what your politics, whatever your ethnic origin, economic circumstance, family history or mental health status, chances are you have ample reason to be ticked off. If you’re on the left, you have been oppressed, denied, marginalized, silenced, erased, pained, underrepresented, underresourced, traumatized, harmed and hurt. If you’re on the right, you’ve been ignored, overlooked, demeaned, underestimated, shouted down, maligned, caricatured and despised; in Trumpspeak: wronged and betrayed. What was Jan. 6 at heart but a gigantic tantrum by those who felt they’d been cheated and would take back their due, by whatever means necessary? Nor has the urge to leverage powerlessness as a form of power felt quite so universal — more pervasive on the left, if considerably more threatening on the right.

Comcast beat first-quarter earnings expectations on Thursday, as broadband drove revenue even as the company and its peers have seen customer growth slow. Revenue from the domestic broadband customers segment boosted that growth as rates increased, even as Comcast lost 65,000 customers during the quarter. The three businesses now report under the same segment, which collectively saw revenue rise 1.1% to $10.37 billion. The service added 3 million paid subscribers during the quarter, bringing its total number of customers to 34 million. While domestic advertising was flat during the quarter, the company saw its domestic distribution revenue increase, driven by the growth at Peacock.

Chinese-owned ByteDance will be forced to sell TikTok to a US company or face a nationwide ban.
